Here in Nelson we're proud of our strong community spirit - you'll feel it in the air as you join the excited chatter of a walk up the Centre of New Zealand for the Canterbury Community Trust Lantern Spectacular, watch as the trollies hurtle down Collingwood St in the Fresh Choice Trolley Derby or relax back on your picnic blanket for a Hollywood movie classic.

This year we have a very special festival highlight with the tenth anniversary of Sealord Opera in the Park. If you are here just for the Christmas holidays we invite you to come back in February to join us at Trafalgar Park for a stunning concert with everyone's favourite diva - Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and a great line up of "friends". I take this opportunity to urge my fellow Nelsonians to invite friends and family to be here for this "once in a lifetime" experience.
